At Edlington Victoria Academy we aim to cover all aspects of PSHE and RSE tailored to the age, physical and
emotional maturity of pupils. This will support children in becoming resilient, confident and respectful citizens who
can apply their skills and knowledge when they leave the academy.
Implementation
At Edlington Victoria Academy we are dedicated to fostering the personal growth of each pupil. We have developed
our curriculum to link with our contextual needs in Edlington and ensure that pupils are taught how to stay safe by
learning about contextual risks in the area. This is achieved through a progressive curriculum and by being
responsive to events that may take place in the local community. These include:
Pupils are also taught to be respectful and to learn the value of giving time back to the community. This helps them
to develop aspirations for themselves and the community.
Supporting charities
Four of our pupils represent Edlington Victoria Academy at the Trust Student Council. They represent the academy’s
views and ideas and take part in Trust-wide projects on sustainability and local charity contributions. As part of their
role, pupils researched and voted for a local and national charity that all schools in the trust will fundraise and
support across the year.
The local charity is:
Eve Merton Dreams Trust are a non-profit Doncaster Cancer Charity set up and founded by Doncaster People to help Doncaster people. Their aim is to help the people of Doncaster who are suffering with serious or terminally ill Cancer. The funds we raise will contribute towards patients and their families in fulfilling a dream or granting a wish, if only for a day.
Our National Charity is:
Home is a human right. It's our foundation and it's where we thrive. Yet, every day millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency and homelessness. They exist to defend the right to a safe home. Because home is everything.

Extra-curricular Clubs
At Edlington Victoria Academy we believe that it is important that we give pupils an opportunity to take part in
extracurricular activities. We aim to have a broad variety of activities available so that pupils from Reception to Year
6 can access the clubs. Examples of clubs include: Basketball, Athletics, Coding, Sewing, Choir, Comfy Reading,
Maths club, Time tables club, Ball skills, Netball, Dodgeball, Multi skills, Dance, Gardening, Girls’ football, Rugby,
Forest School, Cricket, Rounders, Crafts and crafts and Science.
